Vulpex liquid soap is a safe, non-corrosive cleaner for practically everything, from paper to stone.
Since its introduction in 1970, its exceptional versatility has made Vulpex a popular and indispensable medium in all branches of restoration for the professional conservation and preservation of small artworks and historically significant monuments.
It is successfully used for cleaning materials such as bird feathers, costumes, leather, carpets, furniture, oil paintings, armor, precious metals, shells, marble, stone...
Vulpex breaks down and forms an emulsion with dirt, fats, fatty oils, mineral oils, waxes, and hydrocarbons with great speed and efficiency.
Compared to coarse cleaners based on acids, alkaline Vulpex is not harmful to human health or property. After cleaning, rinse the surface with clean water and wipe it dry.
Vulpex is available in a highly concentrated form and must be diluted before use. For regular water cleaning, prepare a starting concentration by mixing 1 part of Vulpex with 6 or 7 parts of cold tap water. For less dirty items, the dilution can be appropriately higher and vice versa. For alcohol cleaning, mix 1 part of Vulpex with 10-20 parts of alcohol. For cleaning walls, it is recommended to mix 1 part of Vulpex with 6-7 parts of water. The most effective cleaning is done with a soft brush.
For cleaning gold and gilding, use a starting concentration of 1:7 in white spirit or D-60. When the work requires a solvent-free cleaning system, such as when removing dirt from leather, Vulpex can be mixed with powdered minerals (e.g., Filler K-5, Rubbersil) or cleaning gasoline (e.g., aliphatic Cleaner D-60) instead of water.
For cleaning oil paintings, it is recommended to use Vulpex diluted in a ratio of 1:10-20 with white spirit or Cleaner D-60.
Since Vulpex is a highly concentrated cleaner, hands should be protected from losing natural skin oils (degreasing of the skin) with protective gloves or by applying a lanolin-based cream immediately after use. Eyes should be protected from possible splashes with impermeable safety glasses.
